Why use our free QR code generator?

Our QR code generator is one of the simplest and most complete tools available online. In a few seconds you can create a working QR code that points to any URL, text, phone number, email address or WiFi network — no account, no subscription and no scan limit.

Unlike many paid services, our QR codes are static and permanent: once generated, your QR code keeps working forever, even after you close your browser or stop using the site. There is no expiry date, no monthly scan limit and no risk of your QR code going dead because a subscription wasn’t renewed.

Every QR code can be downloaded as a high-quality PDF or PNG, ready for professional printing on business cards, flyers, posters, restaurant menus, product labels or any other printed material.

How to create a QR code in 3 steps

Creating a QR code with our tool couldn’t be simpler:

Step 1 — Enter your content: paste your website URL, phone number, email address or any text into the field above. For a WiFi QR code, use the format WIFI:T:WPA;S:NetworkName;P:Password;;

Step 2 — Customise: choose the size you need (200px for screens, 300px for mixed use, 400px for print) and match the colours to your brand if you like.

Step 3 — Download: click Generate, then download your QR code as a PDF for perfect printing, or as a PNG to add it to your presentations and digital documents.

What can you encode in a QR code?

A QR code can hold almost any kind of digital information. Here are the most common uses:

URLs and websites: send people to your website, online shop, portfolio or any web page. This is by far the most common use of QR codes.

Social media: share your Instagram profile, Facebook page, YouTube channel, LinkedIn profile or TikTok account. Printed on your materials, a QR code turns offline customers into online followers.

WiFi: let customers, guests or colleagues join your WiFi network without typing the password. Modern smartphone cameras recognise this type of QR code automatically.

PDF documents: share a catalogue, brochure, menu or user guide through a QR code printed on your materials. Upload your PDF (Google Drive, Dropbox) and encode the share link.

Contact details (vCard): encode your name, phone number, email and address in a QR code so people can save your details straight to their contacts.

Restaurant menus: replace paper menus with a QR code on each table. Guests read the menu on their phone, and you can update it online at any time without reprinting.

Does my QR code expire?

No, never. Our QR codes are static and permanent. Unlike the dynamic QR codes sold by paid services, a static QR code stores the final information directly in the image. It works forever, for an unlimited number of scans, with no subscription. You can print it on thousands of items without worrying that it will stop working.

Do I need an account to generate a QR code?

No sign-up is required. Our generator is completely free and anonymous. Just enter your URL or text, click Generate and download your QR code straight away. No email, no password and no credit card are ever requested.

What size should I choose for printing?

For a business card, choose 200px — the QR code will be perfectly readable printed at 2.5 × 2.5 cm (about 1 inch). For a flyer or brochure, go for 300px. For a poster, shop window or any large format, choose 400px and export to PDF for the best print quality at any final size. As a rule of thumb, the printed code should be at least about one tenth of the scanning distance.

Can I change the colour of my QR code?

Yes. The generator has two colour pickers: one for the QR code modules and one for the background. You can match the QR code to your brand with any colour combination. Just make sure there is always enough contrast between the code and its background — poor contrast can make the code unreadable for some scanners.

What is the difference between a static and a dynamic QR code?

A static QR code (like the ones generated on this site) stores the information directly and permanently in the image. It is free, permanent and doesn’t depend on any third-party server. A dynamic QR code stores an intermediate URL that redirects to your final destination, so you can change the destination without recreating the code. Dynamic QR codes require a paid subscription (typically €5 to €50 per month) and stop working if the subscription isn’t renewed. For the vast majority of uses, a free static QR code is all you need.

Will my QR code work on every smartphone?

Yes. The built-in camera on iPhones (since iOS 11) and on almost all recent Android phones recognises QR codes automatically, with no extra app. Just point the camera at the QR code and a notification appears so you can open the content with one tap. For older devices, free QR code reader apps are available on the App Store and Google Play.

Can I create a QR code for any URL?

Yes, the generator accepts any valid URL: websites, Google Drive and Dropbox links, social media profiles, app links, booking links and more. Just make sure the link is publicly accessible so people can open it after scanning.
